“Sol” is Latin for sun - energy, warmth, a fresh start.
“Rare” reflects our promise: a truly personal, exceptional experience.
In June 2024, we founded Rare Sol with a team of 4 employees, and one mission. To knock down all barriers that hold people back from becoming their fittest, healthiest self, and create a different fitness experience that truly fits your life.
After growing up in fitness - playing sports, lifting, coaching - we saw the same roadblocks over and over: crowded gyms, confusing machines, schedules that never line up, and workouts that aggravate old injuries. In 2020, training outdoors and at home showed us how simple - and sustainable - fitness can be when it meets you where you are... so we built a service that does exactly that.
Based in Santa Barbara and Orange County, we send certified trainers to your home or favorite outdoor spot with joint-smart, strength-building sessions tailored to your body, goals, and lifestyle. No commute. No crowds. No guesswork - just consistent progress and accountability. Our goal is simple: make high-quality fitness effortless, private, and genuinely enjoyable - so you keep doing it for years.
1) How does in-home training work?
We come to your home (or favorite outdoor spot) with the right gear, coach you 1-on-1 for 60 minutes, and leave you with a simple plan to follow for upcoming sessions.
2) Do I need any equipment?
No. We bring everything—bands, kettlebells, mats—and use what you have if helpful.
3) Can you work around injuries or pain (knees, back, shoulders)?
Yes. We screen your movement first and build joint-smart progressions so you get stronger without flare-ups.
4) What happens in the first session?
A complimentary fitness assessment: quick posture/balance checks, goal setting, then a light workout so we can tailor your plan.
5) How long are sessions and how often should I train?
Most clients do 60 minutes, once or twice per week to start.
6) Who are your trainers?
Certified (NASM/ACE), CPR/AED, background-checked, experienced with older adults, knowledge of post-injury training, and great at working with beginners.
7) Do you train couples or family members?
Absolutely. We offer sessions for up to 3 people at no additional cost.
